About

18 Points

"Lovely stoney fruit, picked before the rain, and while there were serious cyclone issues the rain was mainly confined to the hills. This is a bracing, lean and raspy wine with rather slender pineapple-y fruit and masses of crunch. Bright, tight and refreshing it is a superb contrast to many of the more tropical wines from Marlborough."

In its youth the wine is pale straw in colour with bright lime green hints. Aromas are more powerful than previous vintages and more in the gooseberry and passionfruit spectrum, underpinned by typical lime juice and a hint of red currant leaves. Mineral and stony undertones are also evident. The palate is more elegant and forward but still retains the tight backbone that is typical of wines from this vineyard.

In its youth the wine is moderate straw in colour with green tints. Aromas are reserved and quite exotic with hints of lime, peach, honeysuckle, passionfruit and gooseberry. Even in this cool year there is not a hint of greenness. Flavours are exuberant as is often the case with young vines. Ripe flavours of sweet gala apples, lime and rich tropical fruits predominate in a lush textured style with a long, dry, grainy finish.
