Wineries

The wines of Craggy Range are produced at two sites, the Gimblett Gravels Winery and Giants Winery.

Our Wineries

Both of the wineries are made up of individual bespoke cellars that are designed to the requirements of each wine style providing the best winemaking conditions for the unique parcels harvested from vineyards in Hawke’s Bay, Martinborough and Marlborough.

Gimblett Gravels Winery

Most of the Craggy Range wines are made at our Gimblett Gravels Winery located in the heart of the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing district in Hawke’s Bay. Here you find four distinct cellars each with a specific purpose. On the southern side of the winery is a multi-functional service area for grape receival, sorting, crushing and pressing that enables preparation of the grapes without compromise. Inside the winery, the equipment is of the highest quality to ensure a gentle process continuing our highly crafted approach to winemaking. The winemakers use a high-tech winery process control system to allow them to collect data to make informed and creative decisions.

Giants Winery

Giants Winery is a collection of three cellars with one of the most special wines, ‘Sophia’ made in its own specially designed circular fermentation cellar containing 8000 litre French oak cuves. Each of the cuves are used for fermenting individual parcels of wine from the Gimblett Gravels Vineyard.

Below Sophia is a barrel cellar named The Quarry where the blended components of ‘Sophia’ are aged together for its final 12 months in the optimal conditions.
