As Enjoyed By

I chose Terrôir Restaurant for my 50th birthday celebration and it didn't disappoint...from the warm welcome when we walked through the door to the simply stunning food. This was a truly memorable experience."

My wife and I are still raving about our two nights in the Chardonnay Cottage...we loved the wood burner fireplace with wood supplied each morning. The food provided for breakfast was great and make sure you experience a wine tasting as the wines are superb as is the restaurant. Cannot be faulted.

Thank you for the four nights that my wife and I recently spent in one of your spectacular vineyard cottages. The cottages were stunning in every sense of the word. Every little detail and convenience has been generously included. The staff at Craggy Range are extremely friendly, courteous and above and beyond helpful.

We dined at Terrior Restaurant, Craggy Range Winery on Saturday evening. We wanted something special and that is exactly what we got. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming on a very cold Winter evening with a lovely fire and wonderfully attentive staff. We both had entree, main & dessert as well as cheese and coffee to end the evening. Each course was perfectly timed so that we had an extremely relaxing experience. We were in no hurry and spent about 2.5 hours just enjoying the atmosphere, great service and delicious food. The crispy duck confit entree I had was beautiful, it was tasty and the meat, super tender. My husband had the poached pear with blue cheese and witloof, which I sampled and it was very tasty too. Venison for my husband as a main which I tried and it was very tender, although a little too rare for me, but he loved it. I had the rotisserie lamb pithivier which was tasty and tender, with baby vegetables. Desserts were a real treat with a delicious feijoa souffle for my husband and lemon thyme ice cream with lemon honey, baby meringues and lemoncello was so delicious. Service attentive, with ample top ups of our water glasses and some suggestions in regards to dessert selection and choice of cheese ( which I might add was a great recommendation!) Though up there in price, it was worth every cent and we would have no hesitation in returning again or recommending it to others.

We had been recommended to taste some of the fabulous craggy range wines by friends and we decided to come for the food too!!! FANTASTIC!! Wonderful helpful staff, we tried ten wines as tasting glasses with our food which was scrumptious! I had the poached pear with blue cheese, walnuts and other treats and Tom had the veal and tuna starter. Yum! Followed by the beef and the venison both perfectly cooked and delicious! The bearnaise sauce was to die for!! What a treat. We will definitely be back. Very highly recommended!

Craggy Range embodies the Hawkes Bay experience - a place where fine wine culture begets great food culture, and it's all in plain view, all from the region itself.

We had a superb Magnum of 2004 Block 14 Syrah this weekend...It's cellared really well and was ultra smooth with lovely full fruit flavours. Favourable comments by all guests at our 30th wedding anniversary dinner. Keep making nice wine for us all.

We are not the easiest people to impress - our love of food, wine and travel have taken us both overseas and within NZ the past thirty plus years. Our stay at Craggy Range has been fantastic - great wines, beautiful cottage and superb meals served at the Terroir Restaurant. We will definitely be back.

If you only have one meal in the area, make it Terroir. The food, service, and wine are outstanding. We had the bone-in roast pork loin that was carved and served table side by a delightful server, including the "cracklings". They also serve short pours of their wines so you can try several. Overall, just an outstanding experience.

The location is stunning - vineyards and mountain range, and the accommodation was simply superb. Staff very helpful and we were also taken on a personal tour of the vineyard...the place blew us away.

This is a world class facility. The Peabody family has truly met (the) world's best standard in all areas. We stayed in the accommodation - we were welcomed and pampered from date of arrival to departure. Terrior the restaurant is the best in the Hawkes Bay Area - food and wine parings brilliant informed service great chef and Le Sol from the Gimlett gravels 2009 is in my top 10 best ever.

The whole experience was one of the highlights of our 3 week trip to New Zealand. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a roaring fire to welcome us in from the cold. I would recommend a visit to anyone intertested in good food and good wine in a lovely setting.

We had the most amazing dining experience with attentive staff and the most beautiful food and wine. Thank you so much for providing an amazing venue and stunning ambience to dine in. The most memorable dining experience I have had in a long time.

We truly enjoyed the simple pleasures in the cottage during our honeymoon stay. It was romantic and the perfect setting to relax after a long day of wine tasting. If you're looking for a special place and willing to pay a small premium, you should stay here.

Wonderful food and service for lunch. Loved their wine list - you can sample a range of wines with your meal. Amazing views of Te Mata Peak from your table! One of the highlights was walking through the vineyard and around the pond after lunch.
